Biesse Skipper V31 (2016) | Vertical CNC Boring Center

Full specifications are listed in the table above. What follows is what those numbers mean on your shop floor.
What this machine does for your production
The Skipper V31 works vertically. The panel stands up, the automatic gripper takes it, and drilling, routing and grooving happen in one pass — no nesting preparation, no vacuum pod layout, no re-clamping between operations.
That changes three things you feel every single day:
Setup time collapses. Variable panel sizes no longer mean a new fixture setup. Load, run, next.
Handling time drops. The air cushion and pressure rollers move panels with almost no operator effort, and the gripper positions them for you.
Floor space stays free. The vertical concept releases square metres that a horizontal centre of comparable capability would consume.
With an 18,000 rpm ISO-30 spindle and a 4.5 kW router, edges come off clean enough to skip rework. Six plus six horizontal drilling groups in X and Y, ten vertical spindles and an integrated Ø120 mm groove saw cover the boring patterns, dowel holes, hardware fixings and back-panel grooves that make up the bulk of cabinet work — without a tool change between them.
Is this machine right for you?
You will get the most out of a Skipper V31 if you recognise your own workshop here:
Furniture manufacturers running high-speed vertical drilling and routing
Kitchen and cabinet producers with constantly changing panel dimensions
Interior fit-out and contract furniture companies working to short lead times
Panel processing workshops where floor space is the real constraint
Manufacturers who need CNC flexibility without committing to a large machining centre
If your orders arrive as batch sizes of one to twenty, and your bottleneck is changeover rather than cutting time, this machine was engineered for exactly that situation.
Skipper V31 compared to the alternatives
Versus a horizontal CNC machining centre: significantly smaller footprint, faster setup across varying panel sizes, less material handling per part, and a lower overall investment when drilling and routing are your primary operations rather than complex 3D work.
Versus a standard point-to-point boring machine: integrated routing capability and a broader range of machining operations from one station — a genuine step up in flexibility, not just in speed.
For a manufacturer balancing flexibility, throughput and square metres, that combination is difficult to match at this price level.
Equipment included
Integrated groove saw unit, Ø120 mm
Automatic panel clamping with gripper
Pressure rollers
Air cushion panel support
Typical applications
Cabinet side drilling and routing
Shelf and partition processing
Dowel and hardware hole drilling
Back panel grooving
Small batch and custom furniture production
